Allison brings decades of diverse experience spanning communications, public engagement, education, administration, and more. She began her career as a middle and high school teacher and has spent nearly a decade in local and state government.

Her passion for making a difference extended into work in the nonprofit sector, where she excelled in community engagement, event-planning, administration, and fundraising. In addition to her organizational expertise, Allison has built a robust portfolio as a freelance writer, copy editor, proofreader, grant writer, bookseller, and magazine editor.

For 13 years, she and her husband, David, successfully grew their consulting company, Peak Sustainability Group, before selling it to Maul Foster & Alongi, Inc. Throughout her career, she has derived the most fulfilment from fostering connections, cultivating innovative ideas, and driving creative community-building initiatives.

Outside of work, Allison enjoys gardening, biking, hiking, camping, playing games, and traveling.

A favorite project and why?

I worked on a joint project with the Port of Bellingham and City of Bellingham as the Administrative Assistant on the Waterfront Futures Project. I loved the generative combination of learning about Bellingham and its history, meeting a variety of community stakeholders, working across sectors, creating a new website for the project, and engaging the public in the process. I served the director of the project and the citizen group that led a public process to envision a framework for how the Bellingham Waterfront District would look in 20 years.
