Kate has 15 years of GIS experience helping federal, state, and local government clients solve complex geospatial problems and manage spatial data. Prior to joining MFA, Kate spent ten years as the lead GIS specialist at an environmental consulting firm in Boston, where she oversaw GIS operations and analyses. She excels at designing web tool workflows, managing complex multiyear projects, and organizing large environmental datasets for use by both scientists and the public. Kate works closely with school districts to develop enrollment forecasts, model school boundary scenarios, assess school capacities and utilization, and analyze program equity. She completed several successful redistricting projects for cities and counties and has designed and implemented educational dashboards and data stories for local government and school district clients across the country.

A resident of Maine, Kate spends her time hiking the coast with her rescue dog and, as an avid birder, serves on the Board of Directors for the Friends of the Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge.

Do you have any pets? What are their names?

I have a rescue pit bull named Stella who came to me as a foster. Stella had never lived in a house, so we had to start from scratch! After six months, I realized she was already home and adopted her.
