In his professional life as a facilitator and community engagement leader, Bridger works to make space for creativity and collaboration in the physical spaces and policies that comprise our built environment. His work encompasses sectors of transportation, land use and urban design, energy, water, and more.

Bridger works to make the world a better place through connection, knowledge, respect, and joy. He moved to Portland, Oregon, from Livingston, Montana in 2002. As a student of urban planning at Portland State working on watershed stewardship grants, he saw the power of individual initiative and community vision in creating places that are both meaningful and resilient. In his professional life as a facilitator and community engagement leader, Bridger works to make space for creativity and collaboration in the physical spaces and policies that comprise our built environment. His work encompasses sectors of transportation, land use and urban design, energy, water, and more.

Bridger develops public involvement plans, designs research approaches, creates communications frameworks, and facilitates stakeholder processes that help center people in the decisions that affect them. A lifelong cyclist, he loves to explore urban and wild landscapes through human-powered transportation. He is often found skating through the neighborhood or pulling weeds and admiring creatures in the garden. Bridger lives with his wife, daughter, and cat in Southeast Portland.

What was your first job? Does it relate to what you’re doing now? 

I did an after-school paper route for several years, starting at age 11. I was poor at collecting payment but found walking very meditative. I had many good conversations with myself. I’ll still dip out for a walk around the neighborhood for a fresh perspective.
