Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
DEI Is Key to Fulfilling Our Mission
DEI Initiatives
MFA's 5-Part Strategic Commitment
Our DEI Strategic Plan represents our best thinking. It was developed through collaborative efforts with staff of all levels, disciplines, and lived experiences and was guided by our DEI consultant, Future Work Design. As we learn and grow, so will our Strategic Plan.
Our plan is organized into five interconnected and mutually supportive types of activities:
Service Applications
We seek to deepen capacity in our services that already have active equity applications and to explore new ways to center equity through our projects.
Employee Experiences
We aim to nurture a culture where all employees can grow and thrive through professional development, personal improvement, ownership, and connection.
Integrated Learning and Development
We will provide meaningful opportunities for employees to deepen their experience with DEI topics and build the skills needed to advance DEI initiatives.
Community Partnerships
We will build our DEI commitments through our charitable giving program, expanding our network with women- and minority-owned businesses, and finding tangible ways to support underrepresented communities in our industry.
Authentic Branding
We commit to reviewing and assessing our marketing tools to ensure that they demonstrate how we advance DEI in a meaningful and action-based way.
DEI Committee
The DEI Committee is a rotating membership of MFA employees who represent different perspectives. They oversee implementation of the DEI Strategic Plan by holding regular meetings and participating in projects through subcommittee participation.
"It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept and celebrate those differences."
Employee Resource Groups
ERGs are groups of employees who share a common affinity and support each other through shared experiences and interests.
BIPOC ERG
For our staff who are Black, Indigenous, and/or a Person of Color.
LGBTQ+ ERG
For our staff of queer genders or sexuality such as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and nonbinary folk.
Awesomely-Abled ERG
For individuals with any type of disability, including physical and psychological disabilities.
Early Careers at MFA (ECAM)
For employees who have five or fewer years of experience in their current professional field.
