Andrew Rogers

Project Meteorologist

Andrew grew up in North Carolina, where the constant deluge of summer thunderstorms peaked his interest in weather and culminated in a BS in meteorology in 2011. After “chasing” tornadoes for a year after graduation, Andrew entered the air quality realm with a profound interest in furthering the science and understanding of air quality and its impacts on human health.

Andrew relocated to Colorado for a time, working in air quality consulting, before joining the Oregon MFA team in 2017. In 2022, he obtained a master’s degree in environmental science with research focused on modeling transport of diesel particulate emissions from nonstationary sources in the Portland region.

Andrew has over ten years of professional experience in air quality consulting, climatological data interpretation, and scientific research. He works with clients in forest products, oil and gas, manufacturing, and mining sectors across the United States and internationally. Andrew specializes in using his expertise in weather to design, operate, and maintain PSD-quality ambient meteorological station networks for clients who need site-specific weather data for air quality permitting and/or demonstrating compliance with ambient air quality standards. Additionally, Andrew specializes in near- and far-field dispersion modeling to characterize the transport of pollutants emitted from a multitude of types of sources. His decades-worth of experience also includes developing complex emission inventories and air quality permitting.

Where is your hometown/where did you grow up?

I was born and raised in Asheville, an eclectic, moderate-sized town in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. Growing up in Asheville afforded me the luxury of being able to hike and be outside every weekend.
