Brenden graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in environmental science with an emphasis in toxicology and a certificate in GIS. He is fascinated with understanding how toxicants impact ecological and human health at different scales, from the molecular level of an organism to entire biospheres.

Brenden graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in environmental science with an emphasis in toxicology and a certificate in GIS. He is fascinated with understanding how toxicants impact ecological and human health at different scales, from the molecular level of an organism to entire biospheres. After graduating, Brenden began his career performing historical research and site inspections for numerous Phase I environmental site assessments throughout Washington and Oregon. His experience includes conducting soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling; drilling, excavation, and monitoring well installation oversight; and preparing technical reports. Since joining MFA, Brenden has worked as a staff environmental scientist based in Bellingham. Outside work, you can find Brenden hiking, running, and biking around the Pacific Northwest; making music; cooking; and reading.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself! 

I have trained in martial arts since I was ten years old. I am a second-degree black belt in an Indonesian-style, self-defense-based martial art called Poekoelan. Training in martial arts has given me a unique set of skills that apply to all areas of my life.
