Raised in the Pacific Northwest, Fawn became fascinated with air quality through the development of Cleaner Air Oregon. While earning her bachelor's degree in environmental science and management, she began each morning watching stack plumes reshape as changes in atmospheric stability altered their form. After college, she performed a study for the Center for Climate and Aerosol Research on how epiphytic moss could be used as a predictor of heavy metal air pollution. For several years, she managed and ran ambient air monitoring projects to help industries quantify their air pollution impacts. As an owner of an environmental consultant company, she helped corporations implement corporate environmental, social, governance and greenhouse gas reporting programs. Compelled to find good mentors and peers to continue her growth as an air specialist, Fawn joined MFA in 2025.

In Fawn’s time away from work, she enjoys hiking with her husband, playing table games with her sons, and exercising her golden retriever. She considers herself an amateur painter and huge sci-fi and fantasy nerd. While trying her best to keep her head slightly out of the clouds, she is thankful to have found footing in the air quality team at MFA.

A favorite project and why?

I created a qualitative analysis of air quality impacts from a gravel mining company in eastern Oregon. It’s my favorite project because it supported a small, family-run business. Due to improperly applied regulations, the company faced the risk of losing a way of life that had sustained their family for over 80 years. What seemed like a small project had a large impact on other people’s lives and reminded me of why I chose this career.
