Willamette Falls Restoration Project
In support of the Willamette Falls Legacy Project, MFA initially worked with Metro to assess redevelopment opportunities at the former Blue Heron mill site in Oregon City, Oregon, with tasks including hazardous building materials surveys, soil sampling, scheduling for abatement and remediation, and integration of cleanup and redevelopment components with the overall project direction. The team’s fast track planning and investigation work was funded with an EPA assessment grant.
In 2019 the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde purchased the 23-acre property, which is located within the Tribe’s ancestral homelands. The Tribe is crafting the vision for reclamation and restoration of the site, and to that end has begun demolition of mill structures. MFA has assisted with permitting, implementation, and reporting for the large-scale demolition projects completed to date.
