MFA Promotes Michael Pickering, RG, LG, to Principal

MFA is proud to announce the promotion of Michael Pickering, RG, LG, to principal.

Michael serves as a principal geologist and lead coach for MFA’s Oregon environmental team. He joined MFA ten years ago and has over 20 years of experience completing due diligence and preacquisition screening for property redevelopment as well as conducting site characterizations, remedial investigations, and cleanup actions at contaminated sites for private and government clients. At the Metro Metals East Whitaker Pond, for example, he managed the characterization of the 6+-acre site through the implementation of the Oregon DEQ-approved sediment and upland soil remedial action.

Michael is the program manager for a variety of contracts with the Port of Portland and the Oregon DEQ. Michael has gained broad experience in the planning and completion of environmental projects from inception to regulatory closure for these clients and others.

Michael obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from the State University of New York Plattsburgh and a master’s degree in hydrogeology from Washington State University. He has been a Registered Geologist licensed in Oregon and Washington since the early 2000s and a board member/officer with the Oregon Association of Environmental Professionals for over 15 years. Principal Geologist
