Small Water System Operation

As a certified small water system operator, MFA fulfilled the role of direct responsible charge (DRC) and managed an industrial water system on a brownfield property that served multiple entities. As the DRC, MFA was required to provide on-call 24/7 availability. MFA ensured that the maintenance, monitoring, and sampling requirements mandated by the regulatory authorities were met. MFA conducted all communication with the users of the water system as well as with the agencies having jurisdiction. As the DRC, MFA was responsible for taking appropriate corrective actions. Due to the age of the small water system, MFA assisted the property owner with assessing and negotiating other sources of water for all users of the system. The users were connected to the municipal water system and the private small water system was able to be decommissioned.

With MFA’s assistance, the client was able to easily overcome the hurdle of buying a brownfield property with an active and aged small water system serving multiple properties. MFA successfully managed this water system for nearly three years. The client’s objectives were met when the system was decommissioned.
