Maul Foster & Alongi’s Statement Against Racism

We must work to resist and reverse systemic racism in the communities where we live, work, and serve.

We acknowledge that our society is built on systems and institutions that oppress Black people and Black communities. We have had the privilege of remaining silent, and now we commit to using our privilege to speak up as an organization that has always and will always oppose racism.

When we oppose racism, we openly discuss the racist histories, policies, and cultures that shaped the systems we work in when engaging, planning and building our communities. When we oppose racism, we center and believe oppressed voices when we talk about public health and the environment. When we oppose racism, we own our failures as an organization that does not yet reflect the diversity of our community so we can learn and do better.

It is critical that we take action today and every day. To hold ourselves accountable, we will publicly share our plans and report our progress for our community to examine.
